Wimbledon Nursery went to Deen City Farm

This week our Elephant group (2-3-year-olds) had an exciting trip to Deen City Farm, one of our favourite trip locations! Deen city farm is an urban farm with an educational focus, a perfect choice for the Willows Wimbledon children. The children began by having a picnic snack of apples and bananas in the playground of the farm before starting to explore. The children began by looking at the chickens and talking about the life cycle from egg to chick. They also spent time looking at the cows, goats, and pigs before moving to the small animal section of the farm.

There the children thought it was very funny that the ferret enclosure also had a ball pit, just like we have at Willows Wimbledon, and they commented on the fact that the ferrets like to play in the same way they do! The children then got a chance to speak to an animal handler all about Archimedes the Owl, they found out he was nearly the same age as them (3 years old) and that he likes to eat insects, reptiles and small mammals- especially mice!

It was then time to head back to Wimbledon Nursery in time for Salmon Wellington lovingly prepared by Chef Beverley.
