People who help us

Our children and hopefully parents are often curious about the world around them. One topic that usually piques their interest is ‘People who help us’. Through stories, songs and discussions, Willows children learn about the different people who help to keep our community safe and running smoothly. They might learn about firefighters, police officers, doctors, teachers and librarians, to name just a few. By understanding more about the roles these people play in our society, our children develop a greater appreciation for the contribution they make to our everyday lives. In turn, this helps to create a more positive and supportive community for everyone.

However, it’s easy to forget that parents are people too. We get so caught up in the day-to-day juggling act of work, family, and home life that it can be easy to forget that parents are just people like us, with their own hopes, dreams, and struggles. Parents that are in positions in society that help us.

We would like to invite parents who work in a variety of fields such as medicine, as teachers, or in other professional capacities to come talk with our children about what they do. It can be difficult for children to understand the important work you do. Hearing it from the horse’s mouth, so to speak, can help children to better appreciate all that their parents do. We think it would be a great opportunity for children to ask questions and get a first-hand look at the kind of work that their parents do. If you are interested in coming to talk with our children, please let us know. We think it would be a great experience for everyone involved.
