Fireflies Trip to the Horniman Museum

Colliers Wood Nursery excitement was first fuelled in the Fireflies, with the arrival of Ted, one of our minibus drivers and the dressing of the hi-vis jackets. “Trip! Trip!” One of our Fireflies exclaimed and indeed it was, as the Fireflies had a morning out to the Horniman Museum & Gardens in Forest Hill, London. On a beautiful sunny drive, we got there in no time, thanks to the quieter period of the Summer holidays. The children were treated to an extensive collection of visual anthropology, historic pieces and outdoor musical instruments. They also had the opportunity to view a swarm of bees and feel some models of woodland animals. A mini Animal Walk was also on the agenda, as they were treated to the home seeing alpacas, goats, sheep and rabbits. We finished off with lunch on a peaceful green space & always a sign of a good trip – all the Fireflies had a snooze on the way back to nursery!!
