Children surprise us often – they make us think!

The ability to think critically is a valuable skill that children can develop from a young age. Critical thinking involves the ability to assess a situation and make reasoned, independent judgments. It requires children to go beyond rote learning and develop their own ideas and solutions. This is where the WillowsWay comes into its own, using all the knowledge of how children learn, how children communicate in verbal and non-verbal ways to allow creativity to flourish.

Children need to be taught the skills of critical thinking. Critical thinking is “the cognitive process of identifying and evaluating information to make better decisions.” In other words, it’s about making thoughtful decisions based on evidence, rather than just following the crowd. We encourage critical thinking by posing open-ended questions, encouraging your children to explore different perspectives, and helping them to develop a healthy scepticism. We also model critical thinking by openly considering different options and evaluating their pros and cons. Willows believes teaching children the skill of critical thinking is an act of defiance against conformity and mediocrity. It’s about empowering your child to think for themselves and make their own informed decisions. So don’t be afraid to encourage your child to question everything – it just might be the best thing you ever do for them.
